RPP Calls for New Political Consensus, Including Monarchy's Return
Kathmandu, Nepal – The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has declared its intent to pursue a new political consensus in Nepal, advocating for the reinstatement of the monarchy. This decision was reached during a meeting of the party's office bearers, chaired by President Rajendra Lingden, at their central office in Dhumbarahi on Monday.
The RPP's statement followed the recent large-scale welcome event for former King Gyanendra Shah, which the party deemed a resounding success. In a statement released by RPP publicity chief Mohan Kumar Shrestha, the party expressed its gratitude to the "large number of citizens who gathered at the airport and along the roads to welcome the king."
"The overwhelming and enthusiastic participation has proven the necessity and inevitability of the monarchy in Nepal," Shrestha stated.
The RPP believes that the public sentiment demonstrated during the welcome event, combined with the country's current needs, necessitates a shift towards a new political understanding. The party is now calling for an inclusive political system that incorporates the monarchy.
"RPP calls on all political parties to work towards an inclusive political system that does not exclude anyone," the party's statement read. "We also urge all parties to initiate the necessary dialogue to achieve this new consensus."
The party's decision to actively pursue the reinstatement of the monarchy marks a significant development in Nepal's political landscape. It sets the stage for potential dialogue and debate among political parties regarding the future of the nation's governance. This move also highlights the RPP's commitment to its core ideology and its belief in the enduring relevance of the monarchy in Nepal.
